Dr. Charles Foster Lowe Dr. Lowe was born Dec. 14, 1935. He was a 1953 graduate of Winona High School, where he was president of the student body and senior class president.
Dr. Lowe attended Millsaps College in Jackson and graduated with a B.S. in chemistry in 1957. He attended the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and received his M.D. in 1960. He interned at the Medical Center of Columbus, Ga., from 1960-1961.
Dr. Lowe served on active duty as a Captain in the United States Army and was stationed in Aschauffenburg, Germany from 1961-1963. From 1963-1969 he served in the Mississippi National Guard.
From 1963-1966 Dr. Lowe served as a staff physician at the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield. Dr. Lowe returned to the University of Mississippi School of Medicine from 1966-1970 to pursue his residency in general surgery.
He founded the Surgical Clinic in McComb in 1970 and spent most of his career serving the people of Southwest Mississippi. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1971 and was elected Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1972. He was on the active staff of Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center from 1970-1994, serving as chief of staff 1986. He was a consultant for Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia from 1984-1994. From 1994-1997 he served on the active staff of Gulf Coast Medical Center in Biloxi and as a consultant for Ocean Springs Hospital and Biloxi Regional Medical Center. From 1997 until his death he worked as a physician advisor to Health Systems of Mississippi.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, Mississippi State Medical Association, South Central Medical Society, and Southern Medical Association.
